I really think his soccer cleats are awesome and sometimes, if I make him a latte, he will let me hold one. Wow. All around he's pretty neat, and someday he's going to be a dreads-wearin' lead guitarist for the next Toto and I'll get to hold both of his cleats behind the stage while he gives out autographs to Jennifer Lopez and Beyonce. For starters, Melina made country spare ribs with home made barbecue sauce, roasted broccoli with shallots, and some buttery risotto with little vegetables in it. Spud made the excellent Caesar salad (who made the salad, Stephen? :D sorry, inside joke.) complete with croutons made by Warren and anchovy dressing! And I made the mean Northern Cornbread. Then we all pitched in to do the dishes. Even Spud! hehe. It was a lot of fun and we listened to Adventures In Odyssey the whole time! (I love those!) Spud was kind enough to take some pictures for me so you can see how delicious it was!

Yum!

Lights, Camera, Cheese, Action!

Last night us kids and mom watched for the first time in a long time: Star Wars, A New Hope. It was really fun; at first we were just going to watch half an hour but we (gasp) finished it! (I know, on a school night!!!!) It reminded me of when we were little kids at our cousins' house, they own (owned?) the Starwars Trilogy and we would watch it every time we visited. It also reminded me of a sleepover I had with Kaitie Wrightould and we watched the whole trilogy in one go! (We had this thing for starting really long movies-think Lord of the Rings, extended version- at midnight)

I was shocked at how young Harrison Ford was-maybe I'm just used to seeing seventy-year-old Indy! And there is some great dialogue, like the part about halfway through the movie when Princess Leia gets done throttling Han Solo about how he only cares about money and it goes something like this:

Pr. Leia: exits cockpit and runs into Luke: "That's probably the only thing he cares about!

Luke: cues really cheesy, Swiss-Family-Robinson-Voice, "I care!"

Isn't that lame? =)

I really would have that thought that Luke's actor was taking acting lessons from the guy that plays "Anakin" if he hadn't been around first! But I guess the cheesiness is what makes these movies so entertaining.

Game night!

Last night, Claire, Spud, Piper, Becca, Chase, Shawn, and I drove up to Stephen and Paige's to have a Settlers of Catan marathon. It was really fun. I have only played the game three times before and this time, like all the others, I lost. I don't think I have even taken second place in "Settlers". Oh, well. Hehe.
Stephen and Paige had a big pile of peanut butter, oatmeal, chocolate chip, nut cookies and only 4 and a half gallons of milk. I was having a really hard time deciding what to write on when it came to me: I remember Melina telling me a long time ago, "It doesn't matter what you write about, as long as it's something you're interested in, that'll make it interesting to others." (er, something like that!) That got me thinking, "how about writing something about music or art?" Anyways, I finally decided on the Impressionistic period and some famous artists, musicians, etc. of that time. It's so neat! I have already learned so much! And, I have definitley decided that Impressionism is my favorite style of art.

One of the people I'm doing is Claude Monet.
